on Oahu; It's the perfect beach, and on this day it was a
Tropical Oasis. Here's a

Coastal Colors
is a rocky reef surrounded by blue sky, red rocks, and green bluffs. This
stretch of shoreline is found on the east-coast of Kauai and it's just one
of the memorable places where the Garden Isle meets the South Pacific. And
for anyone counting this is our 150th Tropical Image.

If ever there was a photo that spoke "Heavenly
Hana",
Island Showers is
it; a triple crown of water wonder, three separate falls cascading softly
into a tropical pool. Yes, Maui speaks.

One of the jewels on the Road to Hana is Upper
Waikani Falls it's
located between mile markers 19 and 20. Often called "The Three Bears",
Waikani is a triple water fall. It's flows vary and are heaviest in Winter.
If you ever find yourself in the tropical paradise of Maui, consider
stopping this wonder.

Evening Glow is
similar to
Lava Dreams
but in this version the fiery reds suggest that the lava is winning the
battle of molten Earth versus Pacific mist. These shots were taken within 15
minutes of one another but as the sun set the mood swiftly changed; they're
definitely sibling but they certainly have very different personalities.

in sunny Poipu on the island of Kauai. This shot was one of the daily photos
at Webshots on

Coastal Fire pours
molten lava into the Pacific at night. The result is very steamy, but no
matter how hot the volcanic blast furnace or how much liquid rock is made,
it just stops when it meets the warm waters of the Pacific. What an awesome
way to make beach front real estate.

Sunset Over Banana Delta is
a natural drama of aqua water, black sand beach, stark lava peninsula and
lava flowing into the Pacific. It's especially nice because it's draped in
a peach sunset.

Hawaiian Koi Pond
is a wonderful flurry of activity and color. These magnificent
carp-like creatures come in many varieties and were first raised by the
Japanese some 200 years ago. Today they can be found in lush upscale ponds

Anaehoomalu Bay Sunset
captures the palm trees that circle around the Kuulalii Fishpond. The locals
call it "A-Bay" and you'll find this mural for sunsets in Waikoloa on the
Big Island of Hawaii.

is a wounded lava formation and like all of our lava shots they are taken at
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
on the Big Island. It's where all the active volcanoes are.

Rainbow Falls Foliage
captures the Wailuku river spilling 80' down into the natural pool beneath.
The cave it rushes over is massive and the lush
green foliage in the foreground wonderfully frames this composition. This
captivating water fall near Hilo on the Big Island gets it's name from the
rainbows that often rise from its' mist in the early mornings.

Kong Mountain Seascape
On the east coast of Kauai in Anahola you'll find
Kalalea mountain but it's most commonly called "Kong". A close-up on the
center peak looks just like him. This shot is wonderfully surreal, a unique
vista of a compelling place at an unusual time. A natural tapestry of
orange, brown and blue.

Alau Island Sunrise
is a dramatic silhouette of a seabird sanctuary off
Koki Peninsula, near Hana.
on the island of Maui. The Magenta, Purple, and
Crimson, sky creates a picturesque twilight.

is a lot more beautiful do to superior scanning of the original 35mm slide.

A Day at the Beach
Was taken at Shipwrecks Beach in Poipu, Kauai. This
stretch of memorable sand and surf is right next to a five star Hyatt
Regency Hotel and by any rational accounting it's an amazing place!

Coastal Tranquility
is a wonderful outcropping just north of Kealia beach on the
isle of Kauai, it's
host to a very memorable bike trail that hugs the coast line for miles.

Hanauma Bay Lookout
deserves special mention, because it's the first shot we've
posted taken by Vince's teenage son, Scott Tylor. He's only 17 and has
demonstrated he has his father's eye for composition; the acorn hasn't fallen far from the tree. We wish him much success.

Moonscape Hawaii
Plumerias are
tropical flowering trees that grow to twenty feet tall and they are a frequent site in Hawaii. It's flowers come in many varieties and are renowned for their sweet fragrance. They are often strung
together to make leis (lays) and if haven't worn one of these flower garlands around your neck, you should. They were named after Charles Plumier, a 17th century French botanist.

Fire at Shipwrecks is located in front of the Hyatt
Regency in Poipu on the island of Kauai. It is a favorite body boarding / bodysurfing spot for the locals, but be careful of the rocks and
strong surf.

Kalalau Valley Ridges is
a very masculine shot of the valley taken from a viewing ridge in Kokee State Park on the west side of Kauai. The valley was
inhabited until 1919 but now it's just for the wildlife, if you want to see this spectacular view come early because by afternoon it's generally shrouded in fog.

Honolua Bay Shoreline shows
the contrast between green meadows, rocky shoreline and the aquas and blues of the bay. It's a safe haven for boats and a wonderful place to snorkel; you'll find it on the northwestern coast of
Maui, about 10 miles northwest of Lahaina.
South Maui Lookout
I believe this site can be seen on the road from Lahaina to Kihei.

Opaekaa Falls is
a picturesque
twin waterfall in Wailua on the east coast of Kauai; it gets its name, which means "rolling shrimp," from the shrimp that lay their
eggs in the many rocky pools at its base.

Maui Tropical Plantation
is a very special place. It's a popular tourist stop with about 60 acres of cultivated crops, trees and exotic flowers. Admission is free and a old style tram takes you on a
narrated tour of Hawaii's rich agricultural heritage. Nice coffee shop too.
Rooster Crowing
could have easily been called Hawaiian alarm clock. These
guys are as prolific as rabbits and they do go off at 5 in the morning. On the island of Kauai they might outnumber
people.

Sunset over Haleiwa
captures the night time tropical atmosphere of this quaint little artsy town on the north shore of Oahu. During the day you'll find cafes, art galleries, trendy boutiques and fine dining in an
historic setting. And for skilled and experienced surfers there are 20 foot winter waves.

Fishing at Sunset is one
of Vince's best memories of a fishing and camping trip he took in Haena with some friends up on the north shore of Kauai last July. At sunset drama painted the sky
layers of red, it was awesome, they still talk about the colors
they saw that evening.
Wild Orchids is
a floral quartet of pink orchids. A friend I know used to tell us the weeds in Hawaii are orchids and it's almost like that, many beautiful flowers grow without cultivation.
Pololu Valley Wide Angle is
an amazing capture of the lush green Pololu valley stream meandering onto a black beach with the Kohala coastline in the background. The valley was once home to taro plantations but
now it's a forest reserve, you'll find it on the north shore of the Big Island.
Pololu Valley Ocean View focuses on
steep tropical cliffs towering over the Pacific. Massive mountains meet
pounding surf.

Makapuu Beach is at the
foot of the Koolau cliffs in the southeastern corner of Oahu, The islands in the background are both state protected bird sanctuaries. The larger is called Rabbit island as it looks like a hare
peeking it's head out of the water with it's ears folded back and because back in the 1890's an entrepreneur tried to ranch rabbits there. The business failed, but the rabbits remained until 1994
when they were removed to make a safe haven for birds . . . rabbits ruled for a hundred years.

Lanikai Waters is a shot of
a pair of small islands that sit directly offshore Lanikai Beach on the island of Oahu. They are know as the Mokuluas or the Mokes to locals. They site in Kailua Bay like bookends
off the beach marking a great place to explore, surf, snorkel and sun.
Kilauea Lighthouse was built in 1913 on the
northernmost point
of the island of Kauai but it's been thirty years since it has deterred ships from running aground. Its' light shines no more, but it's glory is not gone, it is the
centerpiece of one of the world's most spectacular bird sanctuaries. Poised on it's massive peninsula above shear cliffs, it often has the company of humpback whales while it's sky is decorated
with rare terns and albatrosses. It's a site to see.

Wailua Falls is
a 200 foot high beauty and it can be seen from the highway (no hike required). It's found on the road to Hana on the island of Maui.
In this particular shot the mossy grotto at the foot of the falls is clearly seen.
Bird of Paradise is one of our best sellers, a shot rich in color. Its large orange, blue, red and white blossom resemble the plumage of an exotic bird. In Hawaii you see it year round and it is an accepted and loved part of island
traditions.
Hammock is our best seller, the flagship of our line and it's not hard to know why. The hammock is empty and the lone snorkeler is unknown, it could be you. Just imagine
yourself in this tropical setting, away from the demands of the fast-pace world we live in. You'll find it just south of Hanalei Bay in the shadow of the Princeville Hotel on the island of Kauai.
In a word it's paradise! If fact the allure of this shot is so strong it got me to move here sight unseen from New Jersey two years ago.
Good Night Kauai
was taken on the Na Pali Coast of Kauai, it's one of VK's favorite places to shoot, probably because it's one of the most dramatic
places on Earth.

Taro Field is an image taken in the Hanalei
valley on Kauai. Taro is the crop that yields poi, a beloved starch in the diet of ancient Hawaiians. Poi is still made today, but it's not the staple it once was.

End of Hana is a picture of what lies beyond the quaint little town of Hana,
it's near the
end of a road.
When you see
this you have arrived at the green tropical cliffs of Hana in Maui.
Surfers at Dusk
Even those who are addicted to the surf have to yield to the end of the day. This shot was taken on
Hanalei Bay on Kauai, just north of Princeville.

This jewel of natural beauty was once just a collapsed volcanic cone but now it's a shallow water cove of royal blue to emerald green waters with good
swimming, snorkeling, sun bathing, and people watching.

These two 80 feet towers of water spill into the beautiful tropical pool below creating a mist
which often spawns a rainbow on sunny days and yes it's the waterfall from Fantasy Island.
